I love doing an upcycle craft, so I decided to do a quick paint can craft using an extra oneI had laying around
I recently did a makeover on my computer desk, giving it a cool coastal look for Annie Sloan Unfolded chalk paint.
I always have a ton of AS paint cans leftover from my projects. They are great to save for mixing colors. I really wanted to do something creative with one of the cans for my computer desk post. I was thinking maybe I could make a pencil holder…. But then I got the idea of a decorative vase for my desk.
I started wrapping some rope around the can and I just loved the look of it.
Paint Can Craft – Getting Started
You’ll need an Annie Sloan paint can of course, rope and your “Handy Dandy” hot glue gun to get started.
Step 1 – Add Hot Glue
Start at the back of the can by adding a small amount of hot glue. Then place your rope on the hot glue.
Step 2 – Wrap Rope Around Can
Start wrapping your rope around the can. I wanted to make sure I showed the Annie Sloan logo. So I stopped when I got to the Chalk Paint wording.
Step 3 – Hot Glue Rope Into Place
Then, I cut off the extra around the back side and hot glued into place. See super simple, right?!
Step 4 – Finishing Touches
Finally I added a decorative plant I got from Ikea inside to finish off the look.
I think it looks perfect sitting on my desk in my office area. It was such a simple project and a great way to reuse an old paint can. I LOVE a super simple upcycle project and this was totally that.
