Today I’m sharing more Dinosaur Decor that I made for my little boys room. I this project over at the Darice Blog last month and I’m finally getting around to post it on my blog. I’ve made several fun dinosaur themed projects for my boys room over the past couple months, but this one was by far the easiest!
I found this great wooden Pennant Wall Hanging on the Darice blog and thought that would be perfect to create a new project with for the boys room.
If dinosaur theme is not your thing, then you can customize it any way you want by using any of the Darice wood shapes.
So let’s get started!
Dinosaur Decor Supplies Needed:
- Wood Pennant Flag Wall Hanging
- Unfinished Wood T-Rex
- Paint
- Gel Stain
- Wood Round Beads
- Jute
- Paint Brush
- Rawr Wood Shape
Step 1 – Stain Pennant
I love using this Gel Stain by DecoArt, I get the stained look that I’m going for without all the mess. Paint it on your piece, let dry 15 minutes and your all set! No staining your hands or having to wear gloves. Perfect!
I used a regular paint brush and only needed one coat of paint.
Step 2 – Paint Dinosaur
Let’s paint our dinosaur piece. Since my boys have a dinosaur theme room I went with one of the main colors in the room. Orange, but you can pick whatever you like. Paint your dinosaur piece. One coat was all I used.
This is a perfect step to have the kids get involved if they want to help paint the dinosaur.
Step 3 – Add your Glue
Once the paint has dried add a little glue to the back and firmly place it on your pennant wall hanging. Let dry 20 minutes, then your ready to hang on the wall!
Finishing Touches
For some extra pieces in the room, I painted some wood beads the same color scheme of the room to make a cute wood bead garland. It will make a nice accent drapping over a shelf or table lamp.
I also found this “Rawr” saying. Add a touch of paint to personalize it to the room colors and were all set!
Now we have three great pieces to add to my boys dinosaur themed bedroom and we made them all in no time at all!
