DIY Farmhouse Style Tray

DIY Farmhouse Style Tray - Easy farmhouse decor

Hello friends. I hope you’re having a great week so far.  Today I’m sharing a super simple and adorable Farmhouse Style Tray that I originally made over at the Darcie Blog.  I love how it turned out and I can’t wait to make more in different styles.

Easy DIY Farmhouse Style Tray

This would be such a great addition to the kitchen or even a coffee bar area.  So many ways you can us it in the house.  If you follow my blog then you know I’m a little more coastal then farmhouse.  But I feel like you can use a lot of farmhouse style decor in a coastal home.  It really works for both in my opinion, as long as I stay away from the chickens and pigs and replace with crabs and sandpipers!

Step 1.

Pick out the color stain you want to use for this project.

Step 1. DIY Farmhouse Style Tray

I used Briarsmoke stain color for this project.  I think it’s a BEAUTIFUL color and will fit in with any decor style, especially farmhouse style! Let dry several hours.  Once it dries you can go over with a paper towel and remove any remaining stain.

Quick Tip – Always wear gloves when doing a staining project.  But if you forget or don’t have gloves on hand, and you get stain on your fingers.  Use a little olive oil and it will help get the stain off faster.

Step 2.

Once your stain has dried, it’s time to add the wooden knobs to the bottom.  Add a dab of gorilla glue or even just use wood glue to the tops of the wooden knobs.  Firmly place on bottom of plaque and let dry for about 2 hours.

Step 2. DIY Farmhouse Style Tray

Here’s look one for the tray.  If you love the look of this, then you don’t have to do anything else.  But if you want to take it one step further then you can paint the top part.

So cute right?

Step 3.

Now this step is optional, but I wanted to show you anther look you could do with this.  I did three coats of the white chalk paint. Once it was dry I went over with light sandpaper and distressed the edges.

This second look is also a great option to go with as well!
