I love working on holiday crafts!! So I was really excited to get started on some DIY Patriotic Candles for July 4th over at Crafts Unleashed. This craft would even be great for Memorial Day as well. They were so easy to make and only took a couple minutes to finish them all!
I loved the idea of making some Patriotic Candles with sand. These would be awesome as centerpieces at a 4th of July party or Memorial Day BBQ. I’ve seen this idea and I really wanted to create my own version. This idea would be great for any holiday, just change the color of your sand. I can totally see doing this for Valentines with pink and red sand!
Once I received all my supplies in the mail I was ready to get started!
DIY PATRIOTIC CANDLES
Step 1 – Fill in Extra Space.
I didn’t want to waste any space or sand in the candles, so I added some blocks inside to help fill the space. I just used some blocks I had on hand, but you can use whatever you want for this step – I hot glued the blocks in place, so they’re not going anywhere!!
Step 2 – Time to add Your Sand.
Now the FUN part!! Let’s add our sand!
You can get as creative as you want with this step. I used a funnel to add my sand to the jars. It really makes it so much easier.
Just pour the sand, you can add as little or as much as you want to create the pattern you want.
Step 3 – Add Your Candles.
I decided to use tea lights for this project – I think it makes it so much easier and less messy then the wax candles. I just gently placed them on top of the sand. Simple as that!!
Finishing Touches.
Now we’re ready to display our candles. You can place them on a mantel or even your table setting. The possibilities are endless.
I even loved the idea of placing some succulents in a couple. You can add some more fake flowers for a patriotic flower arrangement.
How pretty does these sand candles look??! Decorate around them with some more Patriotic Decor ideas!
Do you like to decorate for the 4th of July? I always try to decorate for any holiday, it just makes the house feel so much more festive. My kids always get a kick out of it as well.
Here’s another great idea from Crafts by Amanda, July 4th luminaries. This looks like a super easy and creative idea as well!
