Part two of my living room furniture make over. YAY!!
I just moved to NC, and decided to paint every piece of furniture in the house to give my home a fresh beach-y vibe (I move from Florida to North Carolina and now I decide to go for a FULL beach look)!
Weird, right?
Side Note: I started decorating my home with a beach theme last year. Now I’m finishing the job!
Well, ANOTHER piece I just hated was my end table. The boys have just beat that thing up and wanted to toss it many times and buy a new one!
Since I just made-over my sofa table using chalk paint, I thought, “Why not give it a try with the side table?”
Getting Started
When I grabbed the mint color chalk paint for my sofa table, I also grabbed a few bottles of this antique white. I thought it would look beautiful on my side table.
Luckily, I had a can of Annie Sloan wax already (thanks mom), I’ll use that to seal it in. SO excited to begin!
Step 1 – Prep Your Piece
With chalk paint, you really don’t have to prep the piece too much. I just made sure to wipe the table down GOOD before I started painting. But as you can see, the end table has seen better days.
Step 2 – Add Your Chalk Paint
I love that chalk paint goes a LONG way. I painted a total of three coats on the table. Let each coat dry an hour. Then, add the next coat.

I got in the zone and forgot to take a picture of me painting the table.
Step 3 – Wax Your Table
Waxing the table is such an easy step. I went over the ENTIRE table with my wax. Let dry an hour before sanding.
Step 4 – Distress Your Table
I really wanted to go for a more distressed look with my end table. I went over the edges with 200 grade sandpaper. This part really depends on how MUCH or little of a distressed look you want to achieve.
Step 5 – Finishing Touches
Finally, I went over the piece (one last time) with a single layer of wax to seal it and protect the piece from the boys…
Working on these chalk paint projects have been LOTS of fun.
I just want to paint everything in the house now…TODAY!! But unfortunately, I can’t. I have to wait until nap time for these.
As you can see, this really was an EASY PROJECT! I added my little touches to the piece to finish off my look. I’m in LOVE with it! I’m really starting to get the look I’m going for in this room.
Next up on my list is this beast of an entertainment center. Here’s a sneak peek of the BEFORE…
Wish me luck, I think I’m going to need LOTS of it!!
