Summer Camp season is right around the corner, so I wanted to get started early sharing some fun ideas you can do with your campers. I made this DIY Summer Tote Bag over at the Darice Blog last month. I have been sharing several Summer Camp projects over there, so make sure to check them all out.
I think having the kids create their own tote bag the very first day of camp is a great idea. They can bring it everyday and be able to take home any projects they make at camp easily or carry around their water bottles or any personal items!
This is a great way to personalize the bags towards your camp theme, like space camp, use space stickers, sports camp use sports sticker, etc. To create that extra touch you can use some of the felt stickers to add the kids names as well!
Let’s get started.
DIY Summer Camp Tote Bag Supplies:
Step 1-Pick Out Your Tote Bags
There are a couple options but I went with the classic white, anything you put on them it will POP!
Step 2 – Pick Out Your Stickers
Like I said, you can go with the theme of your Summer Camp or just pick a ton of different styles and let the kids make whatever kind of tote design they want!
Lay out all your supplies on a table and let’s the kids start crafting! Since the kids are using felt stickers, this is a perfect craft for any age.
Quick Tip: Tell the kids to lay out their design/patten before actually adding the felt stickers to the bags.
The fun part! Once they have their design down, then they can start adding their stickers! YAY!
Step 3 – Add Name
Adding their name to the bag is a great way to help the kids keep track of their own bags.
See how perfect that is, you can also order smaller alphabet stickers as well for longer names (like Courtney)!
WOW these bags look great and stylish!
These bags will be a fun way to start the first day of Summer camp and really get the kids excited. If you have older kids (tweens) then you can add an extra step and have them paint their straps a fun color.
As always thanks for stopping by! If you’re looking for another DIY Camp Craft, then check out these Painted Wooden Instruments.
