I’m so excited to share the newest Christmas ornament I made using a coaster. I just posted my awesome TMNT coaster ornaments and love how they turned out. I really like the idea of using the coasters to make another Christmas ornament, especially since they hang so nicely on the tree.
I immediately thought of Oalf!! I haven’t done any Frozen crafts so I knew this would be perfect. It was time to get started, but with this craft I’m gonna need my “trusty” assistant, aka Hubby.
Supplies Needed:
To get started I grabbed some more coasters. I have a store in my area called Mighty Dollar and it’s awesome. They have 4 coasters for $1.00.
You might be seeing a lot more coaster crafts in my future.
Step 1 – Paint Coaster
First you will need to paint your coaster. I decided to paint two coats of white paint.
Letting each coat dry 20 minutes. The cork takes a little longer to dry.
Step 2 – Draw Olaf’s Face
Next I had my hubby draw the face on the coaster. He sketched it out first on another piece of paper, then drew the face on using a pencil.
Here’s where he got the inspiration for Oalf’s face. Olaf is so stinkin cute!! Love that guy.
Step 3 – Paint in Face
After he drew on the face I traced everything out with a thin paint brush using black paint.
Step 4 – Paint in Nose
Next I filled in his cute little nose with orange paint.
Step 5 – Finish Eyes
To finish off his eyes I dabbed a small amount of white paint in the middle. See Super easy, right?!?
Step 6 – Add Olaf’s Hair
Now you need to add his hair. I just free handed some black cardstock and hot glued it to the back.
I was debating on using sticks for the top of his head but didn’t feel like going outside in the cold weather. The black cardstock would have to do. Maybe next time.
Step 7 – Finishing Touches
Finally it’s time to add your ribbon!!
I decided on the classic blue color from Frozen. I just hot glued it in place and voila all done!!!
So what do you think? Is he adorable or what?? I’m pretty attached to him and my boys just love him. They are really excited to make their own.
So who else is a fan of Frozen? I just love this movie, I have three boys and all of them love it as well. My 2 year old is obsessed with the opening song and Let it Go. He’s so cute singing it. And my 3 and 6 year old act out the scene where Anna asked “wanna build a snowmen?” it is the cutest.
I think we play the movie two or three times a week. Plus I listen to the soundtrack all the time. The songs are the greatest.
Ok, so now that you know I’m a big fan of Frozen I’ll get back to the craft. As you can see its super easy to make. Once you have your coasters your ready to get started!!
Next I want to make some Despicable Me ornaments!!
Love, Courtney
