Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest project. A Patriotic DIY Dog Toy made from bandanas I did over at the Darice Blog! If you can believe this is my first dog toy I’ve made. I have made a couple dog costumes before, like this DIY Loofa costume. But never a toy.
This dog toy was so fast and easy to make, only a few supplies needed. Bandanas and some tennis balls!
I will be making more in the future for Miss Sadie, that’s for sure! She was so excited about this toy, as I was taking pictures she would run over and grab it if I left the room. So this dog toy is Sadie approved!
Let’s gather our supplies and get started!
DIY Dog Toy Supplies Needed:
- Tennis Ball
- Hobby Knife
- Bandana
- Jute
Getting Started
Step 1 – Gather Bandanas
Get your three bandanas and fold them over to create long strips.
Step 2 – Tie Bandanas
Tie some jute at the end to keep in place. Then start braiding your bandanas!
Finish off with some more jute tied at the end.
Step 3 – Mark Your Spot
Use a marker to mark where you want your holes on the tennis ball.
I pulled out my “trusty” hobby knife and put a hole on both sides of a tennis ball where I marked my spots.
Then place over the braided bandanas. You may have to adjust the size of your holes on the tennis ball. I had to go back and make mine a little bigger.
Step 4 – Fray the Ends
Finally get a pair of scissors and fray the ends of the dog toy.
See how easy that is!!
Now Miss Sadie has a new dog toy to play with! Look at that smile on her face!
I made another one the same way, but added two tennis balls to each end this time.
As always, thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest project. This DIY dog toy can be made in so many styles using Darice’s bandanas. Your dog will be happy you did!
