I am so excited to share my latest project with you guys… A Spooky Lawn Flamingo Vulture I made at the Darice Blog!! At the beginning of the Summer I bought two metal lawn flamingos for my front flower bed. I just love them and get so many compliments when friends come over. So I wanted to create a quick DIY Halloween craft using these flamingos.
I’m from Florida so of course lawn flamingos were a staple in most yards.
I think this flamingo vulture will look great sitting on my front porch for Halloween! I may even make more depending on the holiday. I might need an Santa flamingo welcoming everyone during Christmas.
So let’s get started!
Lawn Flamingo Vulture Supplies Needed:
- Metal Flamingo
- White Feather Boa
- Bristle Brush
- DecoArt Outdoor Living Paint
Step 1 – Paint Your Flamingo
I used the DecoArt Outdoor Living paint for this step.
I painted the backside of the flamingo with the outdoor living paint. I only needed to add two coats.
This paint works great and really holds up against bad weather. I used it on my DIY hose stand last year.
Step 2 – Add Feathers
Now let’s add our feathery boa!
All I did was wrap the boa around the neck, no glue was even needed! If the boa get’s messed up I can just switch it out no problem!
I would recommended keeping this on the porch away from the rain just to be on the safe side.
Now I’m ready to take it outside and display it!
I’m pretty pleased with how this project turned out. It’s a fun take on Halloween decor, but totally fits in with my coastal style. If you follow my blog then you’ll know I’m all about fitting in coastal style with each holiday.
As always thank for stopping by! If your looking for another fun POP of color Halloween project then check out this tote bag I did last week.
