Today I’m sharing a Thrift Store Makeover! I decided to do a nautical spin on it.
While browsing my local Goodwill I found this cute wooden box for only $1.00. I thought it would be a perfect craft makeover. So I grabbed it and headed for the checkout line!
Step 1 – Add First Coat of Paint
Paint on two layers of your main color. I used the Americana Decor Chalk Paint for this step.
Let each coat dry 20 minutes.
Step 2 – Tape off and Paint Lines
I decided I wanted to paint some strips on the sides. I used my “handy dandy” washi tape and taped off my first strip. Add two layers of paint and let dry 20 minutes.
Then add your second strip the same way. Once your finished you can distress with a little sandpaper
Step 3 – Add Your Stencil
Now it’s time to add your stencil!! I decided on the number 4. I traced out the number 4, then hand painted it in.
I distressed that part as well!! I think it’s turning out pretty cool!
Finishing Touches
Finally I added some mason jars filled with shells. I think it will look perfect on my sofa table in my front room. I might even decide to put it in my craft room and fill it with paint brushes.
The possibilities are endless!
This was such a quick makeover, I just love those! This will fit in perfectly with my nautical style home. I think the pink and blue are a perfect color combination, don’t you??
