While browsing the latest catalog for Pottery Barn, I spotted this SUPER CUTE Heart Peace Catchall. I really liked it, but I didn’t want to spend $20 on it.
I knew I could make something similar for cheaper. I was on a mission!
…I really liked it, but I didn’t want to spend $20 on it.
My mission didn’t last long, because the FIRST store I went in (JoAnns) had a heart shaped bowl that matched!! AND it was 50% off (I paid $2.00 for it.) Total score!
Getting Started
Since I was already at the craft store, I grabbed a gold leaf pen for this home decor project. I was debating on a gold sharpie…then I saw the gold leaf pen and thought it would work best.
It was around $8, but of course I used my “Hand Dandy” 40% off coupon! See…this project IS on a budget!!
Side Note: If up for another GREAT Valentines Pottery Barn knockoff, you’ll love this wooden Tic Tac Toe Game by Somerset Lane!
Step 1 – Add Your Gold Edge
I lightly went around the edge of my bowl with my gold leaf pen. That part was pretty easy, right?!
Quick Tip: If you mess up, QUICKLY go over with a wet paper towel (it will come right off). DON’T wait too long, it’s a bit harder to wipe off.
Step 2 – Add Your Inner Dot Edge
I started at the center of the heart, and worked my way around the bowl. It really wasn’t too bad to do…excited it’s STARTING to look like the Pottery Barn version!!
Step 3 -Add Your Peace Sign
Now this part, took a little longer. I’m HORRIBLE at making a straight line, so if I can do this, anyone can!
I started by making my middle lines FIRST, then completing my peace sign.
Quick Tip: Practice on the inside of a coffee cup or other dish BEFORE trying it on your heart. You’ll get a better idea of what to expect.
Step 4 – Finishing Touches
Once I was finished with my bowl, I was READY to start using it!! I had this Valentine craft done is no time (maybe 10 minutes at the most)!!

How cool…I made this Pottery Barn knockoff for less than $8. Now that’s a GREAT idea!!
I’ve worked on several Valentine crafts, but I think THIS ONE might be one of my favorites. Now I need to start getting my jewelry organized!!
Maybe I can get some INSPIRATION from Katie at View from the Fridge. She just posted a jewelry organizer craft I need to do!!
