As you all know I have three boys and they are rough and tough boys, but they love watching The Powerpuff Girls. I think it’s a great show for them to watch.
I posted on my personal Facebook page asking some Powerpuff Girl questions for this post. I found out a lot of my adult friends watch the Powerpuff Girls too. It’s just one of the shows that catches everyone’s attention.
When I was approached to make a craft for the release of Powerpuff Girls on Hulu, I knew I didn’t want to make your typical kids craft project. They have so many great sayings that I thought should be used “sugar, spice, and everything nice,” and “saving the world before bedtime”. But in the end I decided on “Girl Power”. I wanted to make a unique piece for the kids bedroom or playroom, that they can hang on the wall.
This post is in partnership with Hulu.

POWERPUFF GIRLS CRAFT
Step 1 – Paint your Board
Start off by painting your board black. For this craft you can use whatever size board you want. You just need to measure the font correctly with your cutting machine.
Step 2 – Cut Text
Next, I go into the Silhouette Studio and put the dimensions of my board. Then I added my text in the size of wanted. Cut your text on vinyl on blade setting 3.
I choose the phrase “Girl Power” because the Powerpuff girls are the ultimate example of Girl Power. They are great role models for girls or even boys.
Font used: Powerpuff Girls Font
Step 3 – Add Vinyl
After my text was cut I added clear transfer paper on top so that I can easily add the text/vinyl to my board.
Step 4 – Pull off Outer Layer of Vinyl
Then I used my weeding tool to remove the outer part of my vinyl. I used some white chalk paint for this step. I did a total of 3 coats to cover that black paint.
DO NOT PULL UP ANY OF THE TEXT OR THE OUTER PART OF THE TEXT.
Step 5 – Add Bursting Strips
So this part was tricky. I really wanted to add the bursting effect with the colors of the Powerpuff Girls, Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles. But I couldn’t figure out how to do it in my Silhouette. So I went old school with some washi tape.
I just taped it off and added my paint. I tried to match up the paint colors as best as possible to match the girls!! I think I was pretty close, right?!
Step 6 – Add Sparkle
Once the paint was dry I wanted to add some sparkle. Who doesn’t love sparkle right?!? This is a great project to add it too.
I just did one layer of the Mod Podge Sparkle. Since I haven’t pulled up the text yet, the sparkle will only show on what we just painted, the blue, pink and green.
Step 7 – Remove Text Vinyl and Paint
Now it’s time to pull up your text. Remember do not pull up the outer layer of the text. Only the text part.
I added two coats of paint to my phrase with a thin brush.
Step 8 – Pull off Outer Text Vinyl
Now it’s time to pull up the last piece of vinyl!!!! Remember when we painted the board black in step 1?? Now you’re going to see why!!
-Here’s a breakdown of the order to pull off your vinyl-
Wow this piece turned out really cool!! My sister came over while I was making the craft and called dibs on it, ha too funny.
For parents and kids alike, Hulu is the only place to find the full classic animated series The Powerpuff Girls. Now you can watch The Powerpuff Girls whenever you want on Hulu.com!
As one of Cartoon Network’s most enduring original series, the initial run of The Powerpuff Girls, created by Craig McCracken, premiered in 1998 and quickly became a global phenomenon. Since its premiere, the series earned two Emmy® Awards along with five nominations and countless animation honors throughout its 80 episodes.
The Powerpuff Girls centers on three sugar-coated superheroes, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, whose missions in life alternate between going to school, fighting crime, winning at hopscotch and saving the world before bedtime. The girls are frequently called upon by the town’s mayor to help fight nearby criminals using their powers. While their differences cause them to squabble and tease, their individual strengths combined always lead them to victory. They rely on teamwork, trust, and friendship to thwart evil (in the most adorable way).
